DAG’s Comments On The Drafting Of The New Integrated Development Plan (IDP) For The City Of Cape Town

DAG’S COMMENTS ON THE DRAFTING OF THE NEW INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT PLAN (IDP) FOR THE CITY OF CAPE TOWN

In January 2022, #CapeTown Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis outlined eight key priorities for the @cityofct’s upcoming five-year #IntegratedDevelopmentPlan (IDP), 2022-2027. The priorities set out in the IDP will be the key guide to the City’s planning, budgeting, delivery, and #development over the next 5 years.

Members of the public were called to comment on the eight proposed priorities. DAG supported the identification of these priorities and went on to identify “increasing #accesstohousing” as the most crucial of them all. DAG strongly believes that addressing Cape Town’s low-income #housingcrisis remains one of the most pressing challenges facing the city. As a way of addressing this, the city needs to address this as a matter of urgency.

In January, DAG wrote a submission to the City of Cape Town (CoCT) regarding its draft IDP, 2022-27. Click on the following link to read our full response to the Mayoral Priorities… https://bit.ly/3rvK4IE

PLEASE NOTE: The CoCT’s Draft Integrated Development Plan will be made available once again for public comment in March/April 2022. This will give #CapeTownresidents another opportunity to have their say on the City’s priorities over the next 5 years, and to get involved in creating a better city for us all!
